Why are these places the first to become super aging cities? There are two main reasons. First, cities in Central Jiangsu used to strictly implement the family planning policy, with a high proportion of only children, and this inertia of low birth rate has continued to this day. Second, there are more developed places such as Shanghai and Suzhou around the central Jiangsu region, with more outflow of young people. This is also the reason why some cities in Sichuan and Liaoning have entered super aging.
With the implementation of the strategy of strengthening the provincial capital and the rapid development of the provincial capital economy, the population of most cities in Sichuan flows into the provincial capital Chengdu, which leads to the sharp reduction of the population of surrounding cities. Different from Sichuan, although the population of ordinary prefecture level cities in Liaoning also flows into Shenyang and Dalian, two sub provincial cities, they are also in the stage of deep aging. This is mainly due to the continuous outflow of young people due to the economic downturn in Northeast China and few employment opportunities in recent years. In fact, 36 cities in the three northeastern provinces have all entered the stage of deep aging.
The emergence of super aging cities and deep aging cities shows the great achievements of China's economic and social development, the continuous improvement of people's quality of life and the substantial increase of per capita life expectancy. However, while seeing the achievements, we should also see that this is a new topic, a new topic we have never met. How to ensure the living standards of the elderly in these cities and how to realize the sustainable development of these cities are the difficult problems we must face.
